Babette Wiezorek

Statement

Babette Wiezorek is a product designer who works at the intersection of materials, technology and the processes that connect them. Since 2015, she has focused on additive and digital manufacturing (3D printing) with semi-fluid, colored porcelains. With a specific design approach to digital technologies and a profound awareness of the sensual qualities of porcelain, she seeks a new aesthetic symbiosis of technology and material. In the process, she creates porcelain objects and vessels that develop extremely delicate and complex structures, pushing the material to its static limits. The field of tension includes textile-like surfaces and organic forms, clearly structured bodies and seemingly random, geomorphic arrangements. What they have in common is a delight in the sensuality of porcelain as a material and a curiosity to exhaust, combine and explore the potential of digitally supported manufacturing processes.
