ADOBE is a series of works that explores the innate balance that exists at the heart of nature. Inspired by insect nests, each layer must dry completely before more layers can be added. Although placement is strategically controlled by the artist, the material intuitively pushes itself together. Through this time-consuming process, an undulating surface and organic form gradually develop. The aesthetics, materials, and processes used each explore a wide range of different transformations that are both intentional and intuitive. Over time, forms and textures emerge indelibly from the central axis of control and restraint. Ultimately, each piece represents the culmination of action and reaction, inviting the viewer to question their role and function in their own environment.
