Ute Kathrin Beck

Statement

Ute Kathrin Beck's imaginative ceramic vessels impress with the unity and powerful radiance of form and sculptural ornament. She takes the liberty of creating objects that still cite the vessel, but evoke diverse associations through their physicality and pictoriality.
Obviously, the ceramist is attracted by the play with form and image quotations, the dialogue between inside and outside. For Ute Kathrin Beck, utilitarian vessels become cult objects, artistic objects, sometimes reminiscent of archaic myths, of baroque figures, sometimes of organic phenomena, and at the same time they are contemporary art objects. They are always an expression of a position that inspires and irritates.
Ute Kathrin Beck builds her vessels freely, applies, models, polishes, hammers, ... out of fireclay stone or porcelain.
Recently she has been working on her project "Apostle and Helper".
