Gian Luca Bartellone's jewelry shines in magnificent shapes and bold colors. The Bodyfurnitures collection, however, is not the result of historicizing retrospection, but modern jewelry that winkingly challenges deeply rooted visual habits and breaks traditional norms. Bartellone draws from tradition, but breaks new ground with daring combinations of materials. He combines gold, silver and precious stones with papier-mâché or paper.The artist has always been fascinated by paper as a readily available, ductile and malleable material. Therefore, it was a natural decision for him to move from traditional jewelry to paper as the main element for unusual and exceptionally light pieces. Its intrinsic softness and impact resistance make paper an ideal material for bold creations, allowing voluminous shapes and extraordinary lightness.
